BENL WRITERS FESTIVAL '16
BENL Writers’ Festival 2016 has successfully ended and was packed with loads of fun and informative events; from a Forum, Book Discussion, Open Mic Sessions to Theatrical Performance. With a theme of “To write is to love,” the event put its aim to spread the love of writing especially among BENL students.
To begin, our ‘Book-Selling Event’ was held throughout this 4-day event, from 21st until 24th November 2016 at HS Square. Joining us for the event were; Clairvoyance, Silverfish Books and also Trilog Magazine.
A forum was also taken place with the title of ‘Popular Culture, Media and Writing’ by our invited speakers; a singer-songwriter, Takahara Suiko and a former media practitioner, Iqa Halim. Besides that, a book discussion by Rumaizah Abu Bakar was held during the second day of #BWF16. She had given us her time to share on her experiences as a travel-writer with her book entitled, ‘A Call to Travel: Muslim Odysseys.’
On top of that, open mic-sessions were also part of the event and we sure did witness great numbers of talented speakers among IIUM students! This year’s BENL Writers’ Festival ended with an opening ceremony, and a theatrical performance by Rumput Inc. Everything went well and we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who have been actively participated throughout #BWF16.
Special thanks to our Head of Department, Dr. Zahariah for spending some time with us during the closing ceremony. Thank you also to our Academic and Development Exco team led by Br. Danial and Sr. Ain, our invited speakers, committees and all of our #BWF16 participants.
Thanks again and we would like to apologize for any shortcomings.

BENL WRITERS FESTIVAL '14
The very first BENL Writers’ Festival 2014 (#BWF14) was a very fruitful 3-day event which we hope to be the stepping stone for many more writers’ festivals to come.
Organized by the Academic Affairs unit, the festival is dedicated to the growing talent of BENL writers. It serves as a platform for students of the Bachelor of English (BENL) students of IIUM to put out their works and let the world see their creative expressions.
The festival also launched ELITS first literary magazine, ClairVoyance which was a compilation of all the creative works that was submitted. Special mention goes to Muhammad Safwan and Zur Hanis, ELITS’ Director and Deputy Director of Academic Affairs respectively and their management team.
Also to Farhana Azahar and Fatin Nur Hafizah, ELITS’ Director and Deputy Director of Editorial and Publication respectively and the whole team of ClairVoyance. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our lecturers here at DELL for their tremendous support and guidance and encouragement for this event.
